Terra Ward

Vegetables first, wood fire second. We cook what the growers bring in that week, so a dish or two changes without notice.

You are reading the current board. It is rewritten each morning, so what you see here is what the kitchen is cooking today — scan the table card again any time.

Mornings

Served 8.00 until 11.30. Bread comes out of the oven at nine.

Small plates

From midday. Two or three per person is about right.

From the hearth

Cooked over oak and vine cuttings. Allow twenty-five minutes.

Sides & ferments

The crocks in the pass are turned every few days.

Sweet

Made in the morning, so late evenings may sell out.

Pours & brews

Coffee stops at four so the grinder can be stripped down.

Seasonal vegetables, herbs and grains laid out across a dark kitchen prep bench.

Kitchen note

Short menu, because the deliveries decide

We buy from a handful of growers and one fish landing, and we write the board around what turns up. If a dish has come off, it is because the ingredient ran out rather than anything else.

Everything is cooked to order on a single hearth, so plates arrive as they are ready rather than all at once.

Allergens & preparation

Markers on each row cover the dish as written. Our kitchen is one room and handles gluten, dairy, nuts, egg and fish on shared surfaces, so we cannot promise a trace-free plate.

Tell whoever takes your order what you need to avoid. Most plates can be adjusted, and the full ingredient list for each dish is kept at the pass.

Groups, children & quieter tables

The long table seats eight and works well for a group; the four window tables are the quietest. Smaller portions of the porridge, flatbread and squash are available for children.
